Arcade Machines

MDF cabinet, jigsaw-cut and routed-edge for actor safety. Small load-supporting step incorporated for actor to climb on top. Exterior design was projected, traced, and painted by hand. Gun is a small antique air rifle from stock, held in custom mount, attached to cabinet via pillow block. Unit was plumbed for pneumatic braking casters.

Rose’s Bed

Steel platform bed, riding on locking air casters. Antique headboard and side table was bolted to the frame. A small tray underneath held rose’s record collection. The tray also held the battery, inverter, and wireless dmx controller (set up by electrics) to power the lamp on the side table.

Bathroom Sinks

The bases were constructed from 3/4” plywood for lower center of gravity. It was built with the potential of adding working plumbing, but was not used in the blocking. The tops were a mix of 1/4” MDF, 2x4, and luaun facing. Basins were lightweight steel. Actors were able to shove them offstage during their song without the sinks tipping over.

Diner Chairs

I started with 1950s heywood wakefield- style school chairs in our furniture stock. Seat cushions were 2” upholstery foam covered in a teal outdoor faux vinyl. Piping was a gray vinyl with tie line as cording. Seat backs were made with the same teal faux vinyl spray-adhered to the wood, with piping glued. Chairs were then mildly distressed with a brown paint wash and shellac. Chairs were used as bus seats, locker room benches, and diner dressing.
